IDEC is the Illinois subdivision of the Division for Early Childhood (DEC) of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC)

  • The CEC is a nonprofit organization advocating for individuals who work with or on behalf of children with diverse learning & developmental needs, birth through age eight, and their families.

  • The DEC works to advance and shape leadership, research, policy, and practice that supports, engages, and informs those who care for, educate, and work on behalf of young children with or at risk for developmental delays and disabilities.*

*Children with diverse learning and developmental needs include those with disabilities, developmental delays, those who are gifted or talented, and those who may be at risk for future developmental challenges.

IDEC supports classroom teachers, child care providers, early interventionists, and higher education professionals/students who work with or on behalf of children in early childhood settings with diverse learning and developmental needs and their families.
